Etna Blanco
Varietal: Carricante, Minnella, Catarratto blend
Vineyard: Erse
Price: $23
Food Pairing: Mussels in White Wine and Garlic (Recipe)
In preparation for the Italian White Wine class I was putting together, I thought I would do a little write up on one of the wines. This white is all lesser known grapes grown in Sicily on the volcanic soils of Mount Etna!
Pale straw in color. Pear, Peach and Lemon on the nose. White Flowers and Hay and the finish is salty. It reminds me of when you are standing on the edge of the water and the waves break and spray up the fine mist of salt water.
It has a long finish and is a really interesting bottle. This is a wine that really calls for food. Pair it with a white fish dish or a mussel, oyster, clam dish!
